SWEET Giveaway #5: Theobroma Confections {Closed}

Theobroma is an etsy shop started and run by Tracey, and she is kindly sponsoring our giveaway today.

When I asked Tracey if she’d be interested in sponsoring BitterSweet, I loved her reply about fair trade chocolate and wanted to share a piece of it with all of you.  So here is, in Tracey’s own words, a bit about her dedication to fair trade:

Fair trade and organic certifications were essential when I was first selecting a chocolate supplier! It is very important to me that I am able to produce product without doing any damage- and to have, and work with companies who have, good transparency as far as where all of the materials come from, how they are treated, and the process that they go through. I don’t like the fact that few people know where their food comes from, or what is in it, let alone how many people were affected to get it into the grocery store. This sort of blind trust (or just blindness) is a careless and dangerous thing, for our health, for our environment, and for everyone we effect. And it is a trust that has been too often abused.

I buy my chocolate from a company called Sweet Earth Chocolates. They were very open about all of their information when I was searching for a supplier, and they have lots of info on their fair-trade mission. They are involved in a project called Project Hope & Fairness which is in place to protect West African cocoa farmers.

I appreciate Tracey’s commitment and love her openness about where her chocolate comes from.  Today Tracey is offering a certificate to her etsy shop for a box of 12 truffles.  And the winner can choose the truffle flavor of their choice.
